Art & Compassion

On Sunday November 17, GP DEVA X-Power Gallery proudly presented talented Artist Hayato Takano with his one-of-the-kind sheet music collage of iconic musicians and celebrities portraits. Continuing GP DEVA’s pursue of spreading beauty and compassion, this time GP DEVA and Artist Hayato joined forces to donate 20% of Hayato’s artwork sale to a local nonprofit organization.

Since Hayato’s artwork is composed with sheet music notes, we didn’t have to look far and were connected with a perfect match – Music Mends Minds, a foundation that creates musical support group bands for patients with Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, traumatic brain injury, stroke, and for those with PTSD.

The Artist

Graduating from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Hayato combined his passion for music and talent in art when he made his first music collage portrait of his girlfriend then, now wife, Rachel. Since his professional art career kicked off in 2016, Hayato Takano has been receiving recognition worldwide. He was interviewed by BBC news, won the chairman award in Art Revolution Taipei with his amazing portrait of Mozart and has been invited to exhibit all over the world!

Music Mends Minds

Carol Rosenstein, the founder of Music Mends Minds, created the foundation after seeing how music helped her husband, Irwin, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and early dementia in 2006. Today, Music Mends Minds has over 12 music groups nationwide that meet regularly to sing and play instruments and hope to continue providing support to the ones in need and their families through the healing power of music.

Long time friend of GP DEVA, Steve Weinglass, with professional singer, Danielle, led all the guests sing along three beautiful songs. Steve wanted to demonstrate of how Music Mends Minds helps people once a week in a local community center, also to pay tributes to the iconic musicians in Hayato’s artwork Everyone was handed an instruments and sang Elvis’ “I can’t help falling in love with you,” Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean,” and Beatles’ “I saw her standing there.”

Art & Music with Music in Art

The event ended successfully with over $2000 raised for Music Mends Minds. We had guests who came to support the art, some to support the foundation and some were here to just enjoy. Everyone walked away with the biggest smile. We later learned that one of the guests was touched by the event, and decided to make another $1500 donation to Music Mends Minds. It was an enchanted afternoon filled with art and music and the music in the art truly came alive!
