Many people have experienced some type of depression and anxiety at one point in their life.  Sadly, some continue to suffer with these serious conditions on an ongoing basis.  Depression is more than just feeling sad and unmotivated, and anxiety is not only caused by stress. On Sunday, July 28, Dr. Huy Hoang explored causes of depression and anxiety and discussed treatment options for our audience.

Depression & Anxiety

In today’s high demand, fast-paced society, people are increasingly feeling overwhelmed as we try to manage our busy lives, jobs and families.  Sustained stress, lack of restorative sleep, quick and often unhealthy meals will create conditions that could lead to chronic depression and anxiety.

Dr. Hoang’s presentation discussed two main categories of causes – body and mind.  For the body, they might come from environmental toxins found in our air, water and soil, infection of body, and an imbalance of nutrition.  We learned a few suggestions to help put our bodies back in balance, including treating inflections, taking vitamins, minerals and herbs to detoxify, and enjoying mindful, balanced nutrition.

Any discomfort on the body will affect the health of our mind as well.  Body and mind are connected, so keeping our mind healthy is equally important.  There are many ways we can boost our mental health including using positive affirmations, finding a purpose in life, even seeking spiritual guidance. 

In a short forty-minute presentation, the audience learned about some of the causes for depression and anxiety, and walked away with healthy methods they could try at home to help themselves, their family and friends.

What is essential oil? Essential oils are compound extracts from plants. They can be applied to our bodies through aromatherapy, and adding a few drops to a bath, in addition to massaging into our skin. During the wellness seminar, guests were able to experience our essential oil products with ingredients that are simultaneously calming and mood boosting, giving welcome relief to depression and anxiety.

One of the attendees, Tasha, shared her testimony with the crowd. When Tasha first came to GP DEVA in 2016, she had tremendous leg pain and was reluctant to undergo the recommended knee surgery.  She was encouraged to use L’Aspiration Massage Cream to massage her knee and legs for pain relief.  At first, she was skeptical. Nevertheless, she has used the cream diligently for the past two years, and on Sunday she was very happy to share that she no longer needs knee surgery.
